The following are
some tips or suggestions to use when building a website and what the
judges may look for when reviewing and scoring a page.
CONTENT
-
It is understandable that
sites will load different based on the speed of your modem and/or
ISP. If you have a page that requires a longer download
time, please note that on your page. If your page takes longer
then 60 seconds to download, chances are people are not going to
wait around and either are the judges.
APPEAL
-
Does your site have that
certain appeal? Some sites have pages of
wonderful information, while other sites can have many pages of
what we like to call "fluff". These types of pages
are just there to take up space and really have no purpose. Please make sure
that your site is worth our time, and not just a photo album or a
bunch of links. Will
your site hold our attention and want us to continue on and maybe
bookmark it for later viewing?
-
All external links
should open within their OWN windows and internal links should open
within the site.
-
Are the links on your page
easy to understand? Is it clear to visitors what they must
do to get to where you want to send them? (IE: If you are
using a picture as a link, does the visitor know to click on that
picture).
