Her Tears

The late nights that you wondered,
"Is he ever coming home?"
The many tears you shed,
in the bedroom all alone.

The pounding of your heart,
when the phone rang late at night;
And he wasn't there beside you,
you just prayed he was alright.

The distance in his eyes you saw,
after each long shift;
You never asked about it,
you just thanked God that he lived.

At home you raised the children,
trying hard to carry on;
Striving for a normal life,
though it slipped so far beyond.

Most don't understand it,
all the things you daily face;
But your pride in him is strong,
so you face the trials with grace.

You're tears don't go unnoticed,
please know this in your soul;
The sacrifices that you made,
will be blessed to you tenfold.

The wife or spouse of a Police Officer face many hours of loneliness, fear and sometimes sorrow.

They too must be thanked for the sacrifices they have made to help insure our safety.

I dedicate this poem to Cindy.
You do not go unnoticed.

Cat
